Hillstone Networks Included on the MSRC 2022 Global Most Valuable Security Researcher List

On August 9, 2022, during the opening of the “Black-hat USA” conference, Microsoft officially released the top 100 global most valuable security researchers list (MVRs, formerly MSRC TOP 100) for this year. The MVR list recognizes their outstanding contributions to protecting Microsoft’s systems, software, and ecosystems through the discovering and sharing of security vulnerabilities. We are pleased to announce that three of Hillstone Network’s very own researchers, Zhang Wangjunjie, He Yisheng, and Li Wenyue have made the cut again. We appreciate their efforts and congratulate them on their accomplishments this year!

Microsoft publishes a quarterly ranking of security researchers and a list of the most valuable security researchers annually. They recognize security researchers by their respective scores, calculated by the number of resolved cases. The 2022 leaderboard scores are calculated as follows:

  • Cases submitted and remediated between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022
  • Cases submitted between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021 (previous annual cycle), and remediated after July 1, 2021

As a security vendor with strong vulnerability detection and defense capabilities, Hillstone Networks is not only a member of the Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP), but also continues to report high-quality security vulnerabilities to Apple and Google. In addition to the collaboration with Microsoft for security intelligence, Hillstone Network’s security researchers have been recognized by Microsoft’s security researchers ranking list several times.

Hillstone Security Research Team is a first-class information security technology investigative group. The Hillstone Security Research Team comprehensively enhances the company’s technical strength and global influence by combining research with application. Through the production of open-source tools, security patents, and technical papers, the six laboratories of the Hillstone Security Research Team help enterprises take action on newly discovered vulnerabilities. Moreover, the team hosts security competitions and investigates innovative forms of product security. This improves Hillstone’s security capabilities in products, services, industries, and platforms. The effort and innovation of the Hillstone Security Research Team contributed greatly to Hillstone Networks’ 8-time inclusion in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Network Firewalls. This year, the efforts of the Hillstone Security Research Team and the company as a whole enabled its first-time qualification as a Visionary.

What is “MSRC Most Valuable Researchers (MVRs)”?

MSRC refers to the Microsoft Security Response Center, which is responsible for analyzing and fixing vulnerabilities reported to Microsoft products by external hackers. Microsoft releases this annual list of the world’s most valuable security elites at the opening of the Black-hat USA conference.
