Hillstone Networks Included on MSRC Global Security Researcher List

Hillstone Networks begins the Lunar New Year of 2022 with marvelous news. On February 2nd 2022, the Microsoft Emergency Security Response Center (MSRC) released its list of outstanding global security researchers for Q4 of 2021. Impressively, three of Hillstone Network’s very own researchers have made the cut. A major congratulations to them. Microsoft publishes a quarterly ranking of security researchers. They recognize security researchers by their respective scores, calculated by the number of resolved cases: The Q4 2021 leaderboard scores are calculated as following:

Cases submitted and remediated between October 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021

Cases submitted and remediated between July 1, 2021 and September 31, 2021 (previous quarter)

In Microsoft’s January 2022 security update patch, 3 vulnerabilities reported by three security researchers from the Hillstone Security Research Institute were secured. CVE-2022-21852, CVE-2022-21896, and CVE-2022-21902 affected the latest Windows 11 operating system. These 3 CVE are the first batch of CVE numbers to be reported and secured in 2022. All 3 were discovered by Hillstone’s Science and security Research Institute.

A total of 102 vulnerabilities were patched in Microsoft’s January security update. It includes 9 high-risk vulnerabilities, 92 critical vulnerabilities, and 1 medium-risk vulnerability, covering components such as Windows operating system, Exchange Server, Office, and Hyper-V. The scope of these risks is wide and varies in terms of criticality. Users are advised to update in a timely manner.
