Hillstone’s Standalone SD-WAN Solution
The latest Hillstone Security Management Platform (HSM) release, version 5.0, expands upon previous versions to provide the first dedicated SD-WAN controller, manager and orchestrator for Hillstone’s secure SD-WAN solutions. Incorporating key capabilities of its predecessors, HSM 5.0 offers advanced SD-WAN capabilities including application-aware path selection; simplified configuration, management and deployment; rapid business workflow orchestration; and deep network visibility.
It introduces support for the recently announced Hillstone A-Series NGFW as a manageable device, and brings two new hardware appliance-based controller models, HSM-P100 and HSM-P3000, which can support up to 100 and 3,000 managed devices respectively. In addition, HSM 5.0 automates VPN overlay construction to significantly simplify orchestration, provides real-time and statistical data that improves visibility of the entire network and apps, and introduces a freshly redesigned UI to reduce operational overhead.
Simplified orchestration with advanced overlay automation and zero-touch provisioning
By building templates for configurations and policies, HSM automates establishment of the VPN overlay network with support of numerous transports for IPsec tunnels and a variety of architectures, including hub-and-spoke (single and dual hub) and mesh topology (full mesh and partial mesh). This enables zero-touch provisioning of devices in field deployment with preconfigured settings to significantly reduce configuration overhead, speed up delivery of services and increase reliability, especially in large-scale deployments.

Global unified network visibility with dynamic health monitoring
HSM consolidates dynamic device health status with underlay and overlay network quality. It provides not only real-time alarms through webUI, email or social apps, but also brings enhanced data analytics for transport availability and statistics of historical data for further troubleshooting and optimization.

Optimized application performance with intelligent routing and content awareness
Hillstone leverages high network visibility, various supported transports and StoneOS’s application awareness capability to enable application performance optimization. Hillstone’s SD-WAN solution ensures an optimum user experience by intelligently steering traffic based on the app(s) or service(s), the policy(s) enforced and the dynamic status of transport. For example, HSM can take advantage of inexpensive broadband internet services to intelligently route trusted web or SaaS traffic directly from remote branches to a close-proximity colocation or public cloud data center, or to a high-quality private line to HQ for on-premise mission-critical apps. It natively supports ECMP with link load balancing and active-passive failover for high availability.

Hillstone SD-WAN solution brings centralized security policies and consistent network segmentation across the entire infrastructure. The HSM SD-WAN solution also leverages the advanced Hillstone NGFW platform that natively integrates intrusion prevention, attack defense, malware protection, and URL filtering capability to provide perimeter protection for organizations of all sizes.

Improved user experience with fresh UI design and intuitive workflow
The new webUI offers a single-pane-of-glass for orchestration, configuration, monitoring and management. Its dedicated full-screen dashboard with a view of global distribution of devices, rich real-time status and alarms, and statistical information, makes daily operation far more efficient. The new user interface is based on the latest UI best practices and provides simple access and efficient user interaction that minimize the occurrence of errors, unwanted actions and search time.
New HSM hardware models for SD-WAN with support for up to 3,000 Devices
The new HSM-P100 and HSM-P3000 come with 2TB and 25 TB storage in just 1RU and 2RU respectively. They offer a unified interface for orchestration, configuration, monitoring and management, and can manage up to 3,000 devices including Hillstone’s A-Series, E-Series, T-Series and X-Series NFGWs as well as Hillstone CloudEdge virtual NGFW for public, private and hybrid clouds.
