A unified platform that offers a holistic approach to managing and securing networks – is exactly what organizations are seeking. We are pleased to announce that the Hillstone Security Management (HSM) platform has been updated to version 5.3.5, featuring newly integrated modules to offer versatile capabilities as well as a redesigned framework to make them more user-friendly.
Centralized ZTNA Control for Unified Deployment
In the previous, each device acts independently on the deployment of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). However, in a large-scale deployment, it could force devices to perform repetitive and intricate configuration tasks. HSM V5.3.5 allows admins to configure and deploy ZTNA policies to registered devices in batches, simplifying operations and substantially boosting efficiency. HSM also provides real-time monitoring of ZTNA user access (such as access time, endpoint IP and OS, and permitted/denied applications) to ensure the security of the internal network.
Enhanced SD-WAN Capabilities for More Flexible Management
For easy management of CPE devices, such as NGFW, over the IP-based network, a static IP can be more practical than a dynamic IP as it facilitates tracking and management. V5.3.5 allows us to assign designated and static IPs to devices as VPN tunnel addresses during network setup. One device can obtain up to four IPs from different pools of IP addresses. Additionally, we can customize alarm rules to eliminate fatigue by specifying trigger conditions and notification methods, as well as enabling views of the exact reason for tunnel interruption to gain deeper insights into the network activity.
Comprehensive Policy Analysis to Streamline Policies
One of the main challenges in managing configurations across devices from various vendors is ensuring uniformity, which can be complicated due to the potential presence of duplicate or conflicting policies. The policy analyzer in V5.3.5 helps solve these issues by detecting non-compliant or abnormal policies among the configurations and generating an analysis report. System admins can subsequently make modifications to the policies as needed, standardizing and streamlining policy updates.
Redesigned Framework for Multifunctional Adaptation
As more and more features are integrated into a given platform, it’s important to ensure the user experience is not impacted and that users have access to all of the tools. To achieve this, V5.3.5 delivers a new framework that divides relatively independent features into their separate modules (Device, ZTNA, SD-WAN, Policy, Task and System). Access to each module is clearly shown on the UI dashboard, allowing users to easily locate a target interface. In addition, V5.3.5 introduces a read-only system administrator role and allows for the creation of other new administrator roles with different module permissions. V5.3.5 supports setting and displaying custom logos and names on the UI to help users personalize their overall experience.
HSM provides centralized management and monitoring of multiple devices and network clusters. The platform allows security admins to push common configurations, updates, and upgrades to all or a subset of managed devices, making it easy to ensure consistent enforcement of policies as well as the overall security posture of the network.
