SaaS has the following characteristics: “software deployment uses hosting service, and service information through Internet”.
“SOA” is short for “Service-Oriented Architecture”. The service-oriented architecture connects program’s function units --- “service” together through well-defined interfaces among different services. The interfaces are neutral and independent of the hardware, operating system and programming language. In this way, services in the system can communicate with each other through unified and standard method. Compare with client/server model, SOA only requires loose coupling and uses independent and standard interfaces for communication.
